  • Starting a GOTR team refers to offering the program to a group of 3rd-5th grade girls at a location/site near you, most typically a school. Teams will meet two days per week after school (either M/W or T/TH).
  • First check to see if there is an existing team at your desired site in the community.
  • Plan ahead! Sites are established in the fall for each upcoming spring season.
  • Designate a GOTR Site Liaison to serve as the main point of contact between the program site and the GOTR office (see the responsibilities of a Site Liaison below).
  • Recieve approval to host programming from site administrators, such as a school principal or director of the community center.
  • The site must provide a safe, dedicated practice space both indoors and outdoors as well as on-site supply storage.
  • Recruit three volunteer coaches/team. All coaches must attend and complete GOTR coach training, including CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Recruit 8-15 girls/team to participate at your site (in 3rd-5th grade).
  • Ready to Start your Site? Email the GOTRGK Program Team for more information and to complete the GOTR Site Application!

Site Liaison Responsibilities

Our volunteer GOTR Site Liaisons are essential to providing successful programming at each site, serving as the main contact for GOTR at the site! Our Site Liaisons:

  • Coordinate pre-season logistics at the site.
  • Assist with the recruitment of volunteer coaches.
  • Oversee the girl recruitment and registration processes, including distributing GOTR promotional materials and assisting families with program registration.
  • Ensure that the site meets all Girls on the Run compliance standards.
  • Support GOTR coaches in their implementation of the program.
  • Facilitate communication among GOTR coaches, participants, parents/guardians, and the GOTR staff.
