leadership committees

Our Council is supported by five committees that bring all aspects of our program to life throughout the year. Please contact leslie@girlsontherunkazoo.org if you have an interest in serving on a planning committee.

girls on the run operations:

  • Oversees and coordinates the implementation of the Girls on the Run program.
  • Reviews curriculum and prepares materials, copies and supplies for coach’s kit assembly.
  • Distributes snacks, supplies, shoes and coach’s kits.
  • Recruits, interviews, and trains Girls on the Run coaches.
  • Maintains regular communication with coaches.
  • Leads the data entry/registration process for each participant.
  • Coordinates practice site visits during program.
  • Meets once per month October through March - usually in the evening.
  • Previous coaching or program experience preferred.

girls on track operations:

  • Oversees and coordinates the implementation of the Girls on Track program.
  • In conjunction with the program coordinator, the committee identifies Girls on Track sites.
  • Reviews curriculum and prepares materials, copies and supplies for coach’s kit assembly.
  • Distributes snacks, supplies, shoes and coach’s kits.
  • Recruits, selects and trains Girls on Track coaches.
  • Maintains regular communication with coaches.
  • Leads the data entry/registration process for each participant.
  • Coordinates practice site visits during program.
  • Evaluates program impact and recommends future course of action for Girls on Track within Greater Kalamazoo Girls on the Run. 
  • Meets once per month usually 1st Tuesday of the month in the evening.
     

girls on the run 5k:   

  •     Organizes a festive 5k run/walk for Girls on the Run with over 5,000 attendees.
  •     Coordinates event set-up/tear-down.
  •     Recruits, organizes and schedules event volunteers.
  •     Solicits food/beverage and equipment donations and coordinates delivery.
  •     Works closely with the City/Township police to coordinate traffic and parking.
  •     Designs the course, water stations, communicates with the neighborhood.
  •     Coordinates t-shirts, medallions and prizes for girls.
  •     Communicates with coaches about the 5k celebration event.
  •     Registers community members who pay to run with the girls.
  •     Meets January through May, 1-2 times per week usually during the evening.

girls on track 5k:

  •     Organizes a festive 5k run/walk for Girls on Track participants and community members.

marketing/pr:   

  • Develops and executes marketing plan and brand strategy to increase program participation and community awareness.
  • Develops marketing materials, creates and maintains web site, write press releases and works closely with local media to support the efforts of Girls on Track Operations, Girls on the Run Operations, Fund Development and the Girls on the Run and Girls on Track 5K Committees.
  • In conjunction with the Fund Development Committee, identifies and cultivates relationships with local companies and organizations to partner with Girls on the Run to maximize community involvement.

fund development:

  • Designs and implements comprehensive fundraising plan.
  • Coordinates with all committees to identify and secure all in-kind support needs
  • Works closely with Marketing committee and graphic design on production of all development materials.
  • Develops system of donor giving levels and recognition.
  • Recruits volunteer leaders to solicit sponsors.
  • Identifies, applies and secures grants and monitors the grantor/grantee relationship 
  • Meets once per month

executive:

Includes Council Chair, Chair-Elect, Past Chair, Treasurer and Fiduciary Representative.

  • Communicates with Girls on the Run International.
  • Hires staff and handles personnel issues.
  • Liaisons with various committees.
  • Develops program budget and manages program finances.
